Overview

  • The Department of Telecommunications, Government of India, has awarded the Institute a major research project on 5G Use Case Lab for Banking and Financial Services, in June 2020. It is in this background that the Institute has set up the 5G and IoT lab to demonstrate Use Cases for Banking and Financial Services. It also provides an interoperability and test environment for Start-ups to showcase their innovations that exploit next generation technologies.

  • Supporting the Start-ups and providing them an interoperability test environment
  • Pursue research in realm of efficient service delivery in remote/unconnected areas
  • Experiment with Machine/IoT enabled financial workflows
  • Analyse and extend innovations in Beyond 5G networks for efficient usage in the BFSI realm

Proposed Activities

  • Interoperable Test Environment: Operate a minimal environment with ability to test use cases involving – multiple public/private 5G and beyond networks; bank simulation software, AR/VR, Video and IoT experimental setups. Both open source and commercial frameworks are used for benchmarking and testing efforts
  • Research Aspects: The initial focus areas are around:
    • service based architecture with orchestration and control plan separation
    • multi-domain service offerings where resources across organisations/verticals may be pooled
    • auditable privacy preserving solutions
    • next generation services for identity, risks and high velocity transaction
    • security best practices for future networks,
    • improving connectivity for remote communities and resource constrained IoT deployment
  • Development Activities: The lab is exploring open source technologies for developing / extending solutions for interoperability testing. Some of the activities are focused on rural communities to identify gaps and provide PoCs for the same.

Voice Biometric Authentification

This is project developed by Kaizen Secure Voiz
    The Voice Biometric of the user will be captured at the time of registration process with two factor authentication.
    The customer can speak in any language and any text for short duration(15 sec) during the registration At the time of performing transactions in net/mobile banking, before entering password/otp, he/she need to speak in any language / any text for 15 sec.
    Voice Biometric will be matched with original voice print collected during the registration process and after successful matching, the customer will be permitted to enter password/OTP and continue to do banking transactions.

Financial literacy with AR & VR

This is project developed by Imaginate
    Learning modules on device usage, modes of banking services, steps for initiating transactions, banks branch interaction scenarios, financial literacy, compliant registration etc are made for AR/VR display. 5G specific AR/VR Technology will simulate a real time view of the equipment, branch operations and help the trainee to understand as in physical training.
    In the assisted mode a banking correspondent would help in the usage of AR/VR equipment and training at village/gram panchayat office. In the non-assisted mode, it can be fitted with the ATM or Kiosks and one can self-learn.
    Customers /field-staff can also be trained on features of channels like ATM/Kiosk/POS. • Customized VR content can be used with immersive experience, evaluation etc. Modules may be gamified to ensure better learning outcomes.

Voice banking through AI Bot

This project is developed by Easiofy
    In virtual bank, Al enabled human holograms (Avatars) / Chat bots in 3D to assist customers in their local language with queries and guidance for daily banking activities are developed.
    Human holograms are created using Volumetric Video.
    It will enhance the Customer experience with a feeling of actually visiting the Branch and getting the information or doing transactions live. This will be a curtain raiser for Future Digital Banking.

Voice translation app

This project is developed by Reverie
    An application called as Samvad, Which helps in transilating several indian languages in order to establish a comprehensive conversation between the agent and the customer
    India’s ONLY language technology company offering proprietary full stack API driven technology solutions integrating VOICE, VIDEO and TEXT for 22 Indian Languages.
    Rich experience in deep research based tech-solution designing for localization requirement of the BFSI segment – Digital, Conversational & Textual.

Currency exchange

This project is being developed by Finaara
    This AVRPM its has combination of Hardware and software, connected with number of digital devices and IoT's as an IoP for secure banking and Msb’s Operation.
    AVRMP has Touch Screen Solution, Passport Scanner 100% authentic match like e-immigration counters in airports, Biometric Reader, Cash and Coin Controllers, Additional Display, Inbuilt Keyboard, Inbuilt Signature pad, Printer,Camera,Speaker and Microphone and web camera for back office activities.

5G test bed

    5g use case lab uses open source implementaions to deploy 5g test beds. 5G technology is the fifth-generation cellular network technology that promises to deliver faster internet speeds, lower latency, and increased capacity for data transfer.
    It uses high-frequency radio waves to transmit data and has the potential to revolutionize the way we communicate and connect to the internet. With 5G, users can expect faster download and upload speeds, improved network reliability, and lower energy consumption.
    The technology is expected to facilitate the widespread adoption of new technologies such as autonomous vehicles, augmented reality, and the internet of things.
